Extension setup
Configure automatic authentication between LetsCook and the Chrome extension. Importing works without any of this - set it up only if you want imports to land in your own recipes instead of the public catalog.
1Install the extension
- Download the extension from the extension page
- Unzip the downloaded file
- Open Chrome and go to
chrome://extensions/ - Enable "Developer mode" (toggle in top-right)
- Click "Load unpacked" and select the unzipped folder
2Get your extension ID
- On the
chrome://extensions/page, find the LetsCook extension - Look for the "ID" field under the extension name
- Copy the extension ID (32 letters, a to p, like:
abcdefghijklmnopabcdefghijklmnop) - Paste it in the field below
3Test the connection
- Make sure you are signed in to LetsCook (sign in now if not)
- Refresh this page (to trigger authentication sync)
- Open the extension popup (click the icon in your toolbar)
- You should see a notification that you are signed in
- Go to any recipe site and try importing a recipe
Tip: Once configured, authentication happens automatically. Sign in to LetsCook on any device, and the extension will stay in sync.
Development note
The Extension ID changes each time you reload the extension in developer mode. Once published to the Chrome Web Store, this setup step will not be necessary - authentication will work automatically with a stable extension ID.
