Chocolate and banana combine in this moist and sweet quick bread.

- 1/2 cupunsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoonbaking soda
- 1/4 teaspoonsalt
- 1/2 cupunsalted butter, softened
- 1 cupgranulated sugar
- 2large eggs
- 1 teaspoonvanilla extract
- 1 cupmashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium)
- 1 cupsemisweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper, with some overhang on the long sides to act as handles.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then beat in the vanilla. Fold in the mashed bananas until just combined.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and fold until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Scrape the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then use the parchment handles to lift the loaf out and cool completely on a wire rack.
